Subject: Ping Identity Certifies DataPower's SAML-based Federated Identity Implementation

Ping Identity Certifies DataPower's SAML-based Federated Identity
Implementation

XS40 XML Security Gateway First of Its Kind to Successfully Pass
Important SAML Conformance Testing and Extends Its Leadership in Third
Party Security Validation for Security, Interoperability and Performance

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - January 12, 2005 - DataPower, the original creator
and leading provider of intelligent XML-Aware Network (XAN)
infrastructure, today announced that its most widely deployed DataPower
XS40 XML Security Gateway(tm) successfully passed Ping Identity's
industry-leading Conformance and Security Testing Service for SAML 1.1.
DataPower's XS40 is the first XML security gateway to perform Security
Assertion Markup Language (SAML) conformance testing by Ping Identity
and joins leading Identity Management vendors Netegrity, Oblix and RSA
Security in response to marketplace and analyst demand for security and
conformance testing services for SAML. (See Associated News Release:
"Ping Identity Delivers Federated Identity Conformance Service for SAML
1.1 in Collaboration with Industry's Leading Identity Management
Vendors")

"Ping Identity's mission is to simplify the deployment of federated
identity," stated Andre Durand, CEO of Ping Identity Corporation. He
added, "Accordingly, our work with industry-leaders like DataPower
around SAML conformance testing provides the enterprise customer with
powerful assurances in their purchasing decisions."

Ping Identity's Conformance and Security Testing Service for SAML 1.1 is
a required pre-cursor to validating true interoperability of vendor
products and is another example of DataPower's leadership for seeking
valid and verifiable 3rd party results for security, interoperability,
compliance and performance claims for DataPower's XML-aware networking
devices. In this case, Ping Identity successfully tested and certified
DataPower for a baseline level of SAML 1.1 functionality that were
created in response to analyst and marketplace demand for assurances of
consistent product conformance to the SAML version 1.1 specification.

The XS40 XML Security Gateway is purpose-built by some of the world's
top XML and security experts to secure XML Web Services transactions and
designed to help enterprises overcome the two critical barriers for
deploying XML Web services: security risks and performance bottlenecks.
The XS40 is a true network hardware device that serves as a secure XML
Web services proxy and access policy enforcement point in front of the
application servers. As the creators of the XML-aware networking
category, today's news is another in a long line of "firsts" for
DataPower including the first company to launch a product in the
category now known as "wirespeed XML/Web service security gateways"; the
first Web services security gateway vendor to undergo Common Criteria
EAL4 Assurance level evaluation; only XML Web services security gateway
vendor to team with OASIS & the U.S. General Service Administration
E-Gov E-Authentication Initiative to demonstrate interoperability of
SAML; first to demonstrate real-world deployments of hardware-based
federated ID enforcement using WS-Security and SAML; the first XML-aware
networking company selected two years running as a finalist for the
prestigious Well-connected award; and the first XML Web services
security product to demonstrate full compliance with HTTP.
