More on PLCS:
-------------
PLCS (ISO STEP 10303-239) was approved as an International Standard in December 2004. Major implementations are already well under
way. A number of organizations already run PLCS-based systems and have experienced major business benefits. With PLCS, much of the
early promise of STEP is delivered with information integration over a product's life cycle. Major organizations such as the U.S.
DOD, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, UK MOD, BAE SYSTEMS, and FMV have been supporting the development of PLCS, both financially and with
resources.

To meet the growing interest in learning more about PLCS, Eurostep will conduct its popular PLCS Technical Training course in the
U.S. Eurostep has been the leading resource in the development of PLCS and has led in the implementation of PLCS through its
commercial software, Share-A-space, and through its consulting services. The course has been delivered with great success in many
European countries, including UK, Sweden, Norway, and France. Some organizations that have attended the training are Ericsson
Telecom, Land Systems Hägglunds, Scania, Volvo, FMV (the Swedish Defence Material Organization), DNV, Ericsson Microwave, SAAB
Bofors Dynamics, Airbus, Bofors Defence, the Norwegian Defence, Tetra Pak, and several leading software and consulting companies
such as IBM and UGS.

PLCS defines the rules for common and complete information management. It is based on the established ISO STEP standards, where PDM
schema is one of the building blocks. The standard targets the complete product's lifecycle and manages requirements, design
structures, planned maintenance, and performed maintenance. Companies and organizations with a business requirement for long term
and/or open information management, for both internal and external communication, benefit from all or parts of PLCS. Large buyers
are starting to demand product and maintenance information in PLCS format. Even without such requirements, PLCS makes business sense
- it saves time and money, and it improves the overall quality of information management across the product's life cycle. PLCS takes
advantage of programs like UID where unique identification of individual products is key to a product's life cycle management.
