Subject: DataPower Completes Reseller Agreement with IBM

Leading Application-Oriented Networking (AON) Devices Now Available as Part of IBM Global Services SOA Management Practice as DataPower Completes Reseller Agreement with IBM

With 24/7 Global Support from IBM Global Services,  Enterprise Customers are Assured of the Highest Levels of Support including 4 Hour Hardware Replacement Worldwide

CAMBRIDGE, MASS, September 29, 2005 – DataPower®, the original creator and most widely deployed provider of intelligent application-oriented networking hardware, today announced that it has become part of the IBM Global Services SOA Management Practice under an agreement by IBM to resell DataPower’s leading AON devices.  Under the terms of this reseller agreement, IBM Global Services are able to offer its customers DataPower's Web services solutions as part of working with the Practice.  IBM Global Services is also providing 7x24x4-hour onsite support.  This means that DataPower customers as well as joint DataPower/IBM customers are assured of the highest levels of support including 4 hour hardware replacement worldwide.

Through leveraging DataPower's leading AON devices, IBM Global Services’ SOA Management Practice transforms IT by helping organizations scale to enterprise-wide SOA implementations and to build intelligent, network-based Web services management infrastructure by combining architectural methodologies with robust security, service virtualization and service-level management controls across all service deployments.

"DataPower's expertise and our broad portfolio of network-based solutions are helping hundreds of companies in virtually every industry segment move to a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and take advantage of secure, reliable, easy-to-manage Web services," said Jim Ricotta, president and CEO at DataPower.  "By leveraging leading companies like ours with extensive real-world experience and proven technologies, IBM Global Services SOA Management Practice is enabling enterprises to increase business flexibility, serve their customers better, leverage their existing IT investments, and capture new revenue streams."

"As organizations move to Service-oriented Architectures (SOA) for improved business process, agility and IT efficiency, their ultimate success requires pervasive controls, the highest security and service assurances," said Michael Liebow, vice president of Web Services and SOA, “DataPower included as part of the expanded SOA Management Practice provides customer with an important option to deploy enterprise wide SOAs using DataPower's AON devices.  "

Today's news deepens DataPower's and IBM's broad relationship.  Together DataPower and IBM have integrated DataPower's XML-aware networking layer into enterprise IT infrastructure.  For example, working with IBM's Tivoli Access Management system the DataPower's XS40 XML Security Gateway is able act as a policy enforcement point for Web service access control established in TAM (See: DataPower Certified 'Tivoli Ready'; Integrates Its Award-Winning XML Security Gateway with IBM Tivoli); the companies have also integrated DataPower's award-winning XS40 XML Security Gateway with IBM's new identity management solution, IBM's Tivoli Federated Identity Manager (See: DataPower Certified 'WS-Trust Ready' for Tivoli...); in June DataPower announced a New XML-Aware Blade Based On IBM eServer BladeServer T For Telco Sector; and IBM has extensively evaluated the functionality and performance of DataPower's XML-aware networking devices (See: XML Acceleration Appliances).

In 1999 DataPower formulated a vision for the next generation of intelligent network equipment to secure, rationalize, accelerate and integrate applications. This vision of XML-aware networks (XANs) is a key part of the transition from packet-oriented networks to application-oriented networks, where smart network equipment provides not just connectivity but message-level security, routing, integration and acceleration.  Powered by DataPower's patented wirespeed XML processing technology, DataPower's award-winning, application-oriented networking solution portfolio includes the DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway; the DataPower XA35 XML Accelerator; the DataPower XI50 Integration Appliance; and the gigabit-speed XG4 XML Chipset for OEMs.
