Subject: OASIS eGov Member Section Steering Committee 'Special Election' Now Open
OASIS Member, One seat serving a term lasting until February 2010 on the OASIS eGovernment Member Section (eGov MS) Steering Committee [1] is now open; voting closes at 5:00 PM EDT on 28 July 2009. This seat will be filled by a representative of the public sector that is also a member of the OASIS eGov Member Section. Each eGov MS Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector. The Primary Rep may defer the voting member role to another employee member by sending an email to (member-services@oasis-open.org); any such change should be in place before the ballot is cast. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the eGov Member Section Rules of Procedure [3]. Cast your vote by email to (sc-election@oasis-open.org). ELECTION SCHEDULE The election will be held 14-July-2009 through 28-July-2009. ELECTION PROCESS The one new Steering Committee member will be selected by the Telecom Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process - Scottish Method [4]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate. Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and confirmed. The eGov Steering Committee Nominee is Mr. Jerry Smith.
