Subject: OASIS AMQP Member Section Steering Committee Nominations Now Open
OASIS members: Five seats serving a one-year term on the OASIS Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) Member Section (MS) [1] Steering Committee are open for nomination recommendations. Any AMQP MS participant may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for the Steering Committee. Candidates employed by organizations already represented on the AMQP MS [2] are not eligible. If you aren't currently active in the AMQP Member Section [3], now is a great time to join. The process to join is simple but it must be completed during the nomination period. Send an email to member-services@oasis-open.org stating your intent to join the AMQP MS. The AMQP Member Section facilitates work relating to AMQP (an open internet-scale infrastructure-level messaging protocol) through coordination of the Technical Committee(s) affiliated with the Member Section and associated adoption activities. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering Committee are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [4] and the AMQP Member Section Rules of Procedure [5]. Each AMQP MS Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the Qualified Elector. The Primary Representative may defer the voting member role to another employee member by sending an email to member-services@oasis-open.org; any such change should be in place before the ballot is cast. NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE Nominations will be held 12 August - 21 September 2011 The election will be held 23 September - 7 October 2011 NOMINATION PROCESS Any AMQP MS participant may nominate a candidate via email to: nominations@oasis-open.org; please state 'AMQP SC nomination' in the subject line. Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must: 1. Accept the nomination 2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position (participation in a one hour teleconference each week, promote the work of the Member Section, additional outreach activities as needed); 3. Provide background information and a position statement describing his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering Committee; and 4. Be a participant in the AMQP Member Section. ELECTION PROCESS The five new Steering Committee members will be selected by the MS Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process - Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the electorate. Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and confirmed. We encourage all AMQP MS participants to consider serving on the Steering Committee. Please contact (member-services@oasis-open.org) with any questions you might have regarding this process.
