Speaker SpotlightWho controls your personal information? - Mary Rundle Many of us provide our name, date of birth, and contact details online without batting an eyelash. But who sets the standard for what personal information a website can collect? What rules are there around how our information is used and how long it is kept? Microsoft Identity Policy Strategist, Mary Rundle is a Fellow at the Berkman Centre for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School and an international expert in the governance of identity information. Her interests include how new tools for digital identity management can strengthen your control of your information. Mary has mapped international rules for a global framework for regulating the Internet. Google has made searching the Internet for information easy, but how do we know our privacy is being protected as we search? Dr Alma Whitten is Google's Director for Privacy for Product and Engineering. At the conference she will explain what Google is doing to protect your privacy. On March 1 2012, Google changed its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. They got rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replaced them with one that’s a lot shorter and easier to read. The new policy and terms cover multiple products and features, reflecting Google's desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google. Alma received her computer science PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004 where she specialised in human factor challenges for computer security.
