Subject: ARIP Meeting Minutes - February 11 2016

Minutes:
1. Roll Call, announce new members, and regrets.
•	Attendees: Rhonda Truitt, Sam Murley, Scott Simmons, Sally Martir, Charles Cooper, Scott Hudson, Farhad Patel.
•	Regrets: Clark Dodsworth, Christine Perey, Stacey Stevens.
•	Meeting minutes: Farhad Patel

2. News, stuff to share, questions for the committee, etc.
•	Charles – AR company based in San Francisco called Augmedix. Use AR in medical office as a way to capture data when working with or reviewing patient billing, checking in patients, etc. It uses Google glass and follows HIPAA guidelines. By the time the doctor is done consulting with the patient, the billing is already done and all they have to do is to verify the billing results. The patient’s records are displayed on the glass as the doctor is talking to them. The doctor, patient and researchers all working together to pull this off.
•	Sally – read an article on Eyefluence, company working on eye tracking, figured out a way to navigate AR/VR screens without using your hands, http://venturebeat.com/2016/02/11/the-eyes-have-it-eyefluence-may-have-the-answer-to-controlling-things-in-arvr/
•	Rhonda – Gartner report predicts that by 2018, 50% of AR providers selling solutions in 2015 will have been acquired by large consumer platform providers.
•	Sam – Anyone tracking Unity’s Vision summit this week? It sounds like Unity is provisioning its editor for AR/VR software development; they could be potentially developing a SDK similar to Metaio. Use Twitter Tag: #VisionSummit16 to follow.

3. ARIP project plan
•	ARIP project plan is more of a high level plan. The sub-team project plans will be more detailed. Outreach and Glossary sub-team plans will be added to the main ARIP plan.

4. Sub-teams- status, information sharing, requests for assistance:
A.	Glossary Sub-Team – Sally and Stacey working on developing the Glossary project plan. Will be available for TC review by Thursday of next week. They will harvest new terms as they come across them in conferences, articles, webinars, etc.
B.	Research Sub-Team – 2 candidate interviews in the pipeline; Sam and another contact from Newport News. Please let us know if you are aware of other candidates that we can interview.
C.	Outreach Sub-Team – AR article written by Rhonda and Scott published in this month’s CIDM newsletter. Big chunk of the article is about ARIP; hopefully we’ll get some new members. Good feedback from Marta Rauch about the article. Scott would like to hand-off leadership of the Outreach sub team since he doesn’t travel in his current role and can’t keep close tabs on industry conferences.

5. Liaisons- status, information sharing, requests for assistance:
A.	European Tech Comm / STC (Ray)
B.	OGC (Scott S.) – Next OGC meeting is in Washington DC, March 7 to 10. No AR related topics on the agenda so far. The following meeting is in Dublin, June 20 to 23. Scott expects to have AR related topics for this meeting. Scott offered to have our deliverables reviewed by OGC members who are in the AR space.
C.	Other AR Groups (Christine)

6. Action status from prior weeks
7. Other business
8. Adjourn
•	Next meeting in 2 weeks on February 25 2016.

Best regards,
Farhad…
