Subject: Re: [bcm] Brochure Draft; An opportunity to put into practice the BCM process

John,

That's at odds with the BCM template approach. What BCM is doing is
defining the content of the templates in alignment with the business
approach.

So an example is the GPRA MS Word template. It captures the business
steps in alignment with the BCM layers and method that are in the
specification (strawman of this Word doc attached).

Now once that is done - it is then possible to render the content in the
template as XML (see Microsoft announce on opening of XML format)
so that software can then be driven off that information.

Another example is the eprXML - where the business rules that control
the folders and the cards can be specified in an Excel spreadsheet, and
then again - rendered into an XML format to drive the actual software
solution (using Excel export to XML tools).

This is a critical aspect of BCM - because in achieving this you remove
the chasm between the implementation layer and the business layer.

We still have much work to do on realizing all this - but we are making
encouraging steps and I'm confident we will have sample XML renderings
available in the coming months. (The sample of BPSS linkage a post
earlier this week relates).

Of course a funded project to develop these for a specific application
would be appropriate to accelerate this.

Thanks, DW.

Templates (in XML) is the only way we will discribe these solution
views. Any way else would result in ambiguity and more obfuscation.
