Subject: Re: [bpel4people] Groups - Revised Version of Sketch of HT Architecture (HT Architecture v0-9-1.docx) uploaded
Dear Alan and Frank, The document is much better as to what is Task UI and also its interface and the rendering information format or passing mechanism are out-of-scope. That is really good and thank you very much. However, there is still one more discrepancy that I am concerned. Whereas, in the figure, the name Task Client is used. In BPEL4People Whitepaper (and also in the BPEL4People 10, I believe), the term Task List Client and Task Client are used distinctively. The Task System may present Tasks (meta-information) made by Task Processors to the end user. Users do not select Tasks-to-do from the Task Client, but from a list presented by Task List Client. When the end user chooses a Task (which is only a meta-information of the Task), the Task List Client must ask the Task Manager (not defined here) to look at the selected Task definition in the Task Processor and to examine its "interface" (EPR). Then, the Task Processor or the Task List Client must invoke the Task Implementation (this is also missing from the figure). The Task Implementation passes on the Task rendering (not the meta-information rendering that WS-HT <htd:presentation> defines) to the Task Client and the Task Client gets to present the Task UI to the end user. Proposal: (1) Use Task List Client in the Figure 6 (replace the Task Client). (2) Use Task Service in Figure 6 (inline, local or remote all use the "service" defined by the <interface>). (3) Depict the step where the Task UI is obtained from the Task Service (its details are out-of-scope). (4) Depict the step where user now uses the Task UI on Task Client BPEP4People Whitepaper and the 1.0 suggested that the Task List Client may present the Task Client if that has the capability or a separate Task Client may replace the Task List Client on the User Agent but such a detail is out-of-scope.
