* What role can the BT TC play for convergence of business
  transaction management

  Alastair:
There is a need for convergence.
The only work that can achieve acceptance on its own is the
BEA/IBM/Microsoft specifications which are not in any standards body.

  Doug:
There is a need for convergence.
We have met our charter. Under new rules a TC can not expand its charter.

  Discussion:
There is a definite need for convergence, can this TC drive it. Is there
any mechanism within OASIS or other existing standards bodies that CAN
drive
convergence for business transactions or any web services standards.

** Historical Discussion
Doug: what is the advantage of the protocol agnosticism of BTP in light
of
the depiction of web services as itself transport agnostic.

Peter: not all legacy applications want to use SOAP or SOAP headers.
