Subject: Issue - ex-7 - Web-service friendly bindings

This issue has been added to the btpex issue list. The issues list is posted as a Technical Committee document to the OASIS BTP TC pages on a regular basis. The current edition, as a TC document, is the most recent document with the title in the "Issues" folder of the BTP TC document list - the next posting will include this issue. The list editor's working copy, which will normally include an issue when it is announced, is available at this constant URL.

Issue - ex-7 - Web-service friendly bindings

Status: open
Date added: 1 Mar 2004
Submitter: Peter Furniss
Description: There should be one or more alternative bindings for BTP that allow the sending of BTP protocol messages to be identified as WSDL-defined operations and make the use of BTP compliant with WS-I Basic Profile 1.0

In particular, there should be a binding for the request/response oriented Control protocol that can represented as WSDL operations, facilitating the implementation of simple of control clients.

This would require omission or reduction of the "wrapper" constructs around the messages. Moving the CONTEXT (or its content) inside the BEGIN and BEGUN messages would facilitate this. (see issue ex-3 : CONTEXT used only with application msgs, not with BEGIN, BEGUN )
Changes: 1 Mar 2004 - new issue
