Subject: Re: [cam] Fw: (Microsoft, IBM release XML Assembly Mechanism Standard xCAM)

Duane,

All kidding aside - we do need some more companies to see the value of
adopting CAM
instead of just more of the past twenty years where everyones "CAM" is
proprietary and
attempting to lock the customer into some delivery system or other.

The massive waste of resources entailed is so staggering you'd think there'd
be an
act of Congress mandating CAM use already, or at least some customers
insisting
on CAM in the statements of work / deliverables ; -)

Some recent figures here - Automotive industry alone - NIST estimates could
save
$900M annually if their information exchanges were more interoperable.

Anyway - in the meantime - I'm here finishing edits and review of comments
on
the V1 OASIS draft specification - so I can move CAM forward the next
step in the OASIS process shortly - so back to work!

Thanks, DW
