Subject: RE: [bcm] Decoding SOA marketing hype

Laila,

Unfortunately the service providers do *not* want to change.  They are making too much money selling existing Java, Java, Java, UML, RUP based thinking that excludes the business decision makers and locks customers into a process that the service providers control.

An architecture that shifts away from that is seen as a threat of the highest order.  The only way forward is thru open source and providing tools that solution integrators can get and offer better time-to-market, + cost savings and agile business services to customers.

Breaking the mould is never easy.

WONDERFUL charts.

I am going to speak next spring at the Data Management International
conference in Denver, and my topic is SOA , Web Services and data.

Companies and people are still missing the point.  Technologies, by
themselves, will never get us there.  They will accelerate
achievements, but only when they are based on solid methodologies,
frameworks, processes, etc...

When will they get it?

I really like these charts.

The top item on the first chart shows why technologies like CAM are so
essential to success, and the potential for dramatic savings thru
adoption
of simple and agile XML driven components that are standards based
while
providing deep semantically rich mechanisms that are robust enough for
sophicticated production processing needs.
