Subject: CEFACT CCMA input on OASIS CAM

Gait,

I'd like to provide some insights for the CCMA team meeting in Vancouver upcoming from my perspective as chair of the OASIS CAM TC to you in your role as team lead for the CCMA work with CEFACT.

The OASIS CAM work has long been focused on providing XML driven mechanisms for ebusiness transaction content assembly and validation.  We have also striven to support the CEFACT CCTS work by formal reference to and support of CCTS context mechanisms, and the ability to reference CCTS BIEs and more when creating CAM XML templates.  We have also worked on XML mechanisms for persisting noun definitions in ebXML Registry with the Registry Sematic working group within OASIS.  We have examples of all these aspects available online.

Laterly we have made large strides in making the OASIS CAM technology open and pluggable - to make it easier for implementers and developers to integrate into their environments.  Our next body of work for 2006 is revising the CAM v1.0 committee draft specification to cover off these new techniques and feedback from implementers.

The latest jCAM open source implementation - http://www.jcam.org.uk on SourceForge fully supports this new pluggable approach for xslt, Drools, Goofy and more via a simple extension mechanism.

We believe we have the most mature and verifiable implementation to date for supporting CCTS based business transactions using XML.

My aim here is to extend the wish to collaborate closely with the TMG CCMA in taking the CAM foundation work and utilizing it to implement the requirements that the CCMA team is currently devising.

I look forward to feedback from your Vancouver meetings on how we can more closely work together in jointly delivering these capabilities to our global community.

Thanks,

David RR Webber
Chair - OASIS CAM TC

p.s. I notice that Dick marked this item "urgent" back in 1998!
