Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CAMP-4) Need a formal specification of the PDP format

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CAMP-4?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=33115#action_33115 ]

Alex Heneveld commented on CAMP-4:
----------------------------------

Great set of changes Gil. I agree with most of them.

However I think we should include a few examples indicating the breadth of applicability. I think that this makes the spec _more_ accessible, not less, and prevents two mistaken assumptions which I have encountered a few times! Specifically:

* an example which uses VM's and cloud load-balancers: prevents assumption that this spec is only about higher-level PaaS.

* an example which simply wraps an alternate format (TOSCA or Heat or even Cloudformation): shows that this spec "plays nicely with others"

One more comment, having worked through several more examples I'm persuaded we should support YAML here on the way in as it is so much easier to write and to read. We should make sure that everything can be expressed as pure JSON -- which is valid yaml but am saying not use advanced yaml, really just the shortcuts around quotes and maps that yaml allows.

> What is the packaging format (.jar, .zip) and structure defined for the PDP? How are artifacts organized in the PDP? How does the Cloud know where to look for the deployment plan?
> This is CAMP 1.0 drupal issue # 1008 & # 1085
> Specific comments from Tobias Kunze:
> - Use reserved filenames instead of extensions
> - Allow standard PKI
> - Be prescriptive about the archive format (zip, tar, cpio), specifically zip, also see TOSCA's CSAR discussion
> - Be prescriptive about what hash algorithms to use (md5, sha1, sha512, etc.) and how to declare them?
