Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CAMP-82) Can application templates be shared among applications?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CAMP-82?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=34674#action_34674 ]

Gilbert Pilz commented on CAMP-82:
----------------------------------

I made a short presentation to explore some of the issues around this:

https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/camp/download.php/50738/Multi-tiered%20PaaS.pptx

If we say that Application Components cannot use other Application Components, CAMP will be crippled by its inability to manage anything other than toy applications. Given that Application Components will use other Application Components, the choice then becomes "should CAMP require that all such Application Components be scoped by a single PDP/AssemblyTemplate"?

> Can application templates be shared among applications?
> Some people think that the spec allows this but it does not seem clear to me.
> So, at a minimum we need to clarify.
> If application templates can be shared then we need to clarify lifecycle.
> Under what circumstances do application templates continue to live after the
> application that created them terminates.
> Also, how do we specify which application templates can be shared and which
> templates cannot. I may be running a top-secret application that I want no one
> to be able to access. Or, I may be part of a group that would like to share
> components.
