Subject: Re: [camp] Very sad new: Tom Rutt passed away

Indeed!

He was involved with lot of Telco-related standards when he worked for Bell Labs. In OMG, he was on the Architecture Review Board and had a huge influence on variety of standards that came out of OMG.

I have known Tom for some 13 or so years and worked with him on lots of specs and proposals on Web services, SOA, Cloud and recently on IoT. He was a good friend and will most certainly be missed. He was always engaged, enthusiastic, smart, full of life, and a great guy to be around.

This is indeed very sad news. I will sorely miss the insight, authority and wisdom of his contributions. I believe he has contributed to many important standards over the years, and so his work lives on and he continues to be a force for good in the world.

If you are in touch with his family, please pass on my condolences.

I know very little at this point, but he died peacefully in his sleep sometime last week at his home.
