Subject: Comments on chapter 2

Hi Lofton,

Here are my comments on chapter 2 "WebCGM concepts". The chapter is
good, but I think it's too much (somewhat applies to WebCGM 1.0
also). This section is marked as non-normative, and that's find, it
should be non-normative, but; it is very long (people usually what
to get to the normative stuff as quickly as possible), and second,
  it sounds normative.

Do we have a "What's new" section or chapter in the spec? There are
some details found in this chapter that would belong in such a
  section.

Here's some specific details about chapter 2.

  Section 2.1

Para "A WebCGM 2.0 instance...", is this required in Ch 2? I was
expecting Ch 2 to stay silent about this (with the exception of
having the illustrations reflect the new structure).

I agree with the editor that the image needs improvement (it's seems
too big and the font height seems a bit off).

  Section 2.2.1

I don't think the 'note' about deprecated color space should be
  there, it sounds normative.

  Section 2.3.2 to 2.3.4

In my opinion, this is duplicate information, we read all about it
  in chapter 3.

  Section 2.3.5

Good. The figure could be improved though.

  Section 2.5.1

I don't know... some times I feel it's too long, some other times I
  think it's ok :-)

  Section 2.6

I would remove the last 2 paragraphs, I don't think they belong in a
  "WebCGM concepts" chapter.

  Section 2.7.3

Not required in my opinion. I think it's important to show that we
have established some requirements before writing up the spec, but
a simple link to our Requirements document should do.
