Subject: RE: [cgmo-webcgm] Groups - WebCGM TC Telecon added

For rugby rules:

see http://www.lnr.fr/Menus.asp?CR=75616&CSR=75707
That is in French but as some of the people on the list are tryig to catch up the same levdel of Frech as I have in English this will be a good exercise.

For animation:
I know that I am not able to participate a lot to the teleconf and that you may have missed ;-P some comments.

For animation and CGM, I am generally very sceptical on the interest of it in a isometric view. Costs for creation are for me too high while other 3D format are working well to make the same animation. Airbus is currently delivering WRML file containing 3D maintenance procedures. Globally, I do not want to push for something that I will not use at all.
Remains the real 2D graphics like the wiring or schematics for Hydraulic or penumatic systems. Ok we could use animations but have to date no plan to do so.

Finally, considering the question of declarative versus DOM animation. I am not sure it makes a lot of difference with regards to my main concern. I mean that if you want to have a good DOM animation you have to ensure that you have authored the data with all the required ID and properties and will not be vey far from the worload of declarative animations.

Franck.

Hi Franck,

I hope you are enjoying the Rugby matches played in Toulouse... As for me I'm just watching some of the matches on TV (and trying to figure out the rules ;-P, pathetic eh!)

We haven't heard from Airbus on the animation topic.

If you are not able to attend telecons because of conflicts, it would be useful to the group if you could communicate Airbus' position on animation in CGM:

i) against declarative animation in CGM.
ii) in favor of declarative animation in CGM.
iii) against DOM based animation of CGM.
iv) in favor of DOM based animation of CGM.

etc...

Cheers,
Benoit.

Not able to join at starting time. Might occur one hour later but I doubt it.

Regards,

Franck
