Subject: RE: [cgmo-webcgm] a FONT PROPERTIES sample?

Lofton,

I've attached my promised list of invalid metafiles in the current
(20061016) WebCGM 2.0 test suite.

Hi Lofton,

I will get you a list of the invalid metafiles in the 2.0 test suite.

To answer your two questions.

1) We can input CGM, but we don't edit it on a per element basis. At the end
of an editing session, we recreate the CGM from scratch.

2) Yes, see attached ZIP file.

Rob (& Forrest),

Thanks for the reply, and thanks for the investigations A couple
follow-ups...

Ugh!

I think any metafile in the WebCGM 2.0 test suite should be 2.0 valid,
unless it is specifically the point of the test that the file is
invalid. (And I don't think there are any such tests in 2.0.)

Does anyone disagree?

Rob, could you compile a list of such invalid metafiles? ("Toxic
metafiles", anyone?)

>2) No, at least not easily.

There is 'cgmconv', but it has a bug in FontProp. (I am in dialog with
Ulrich, whether a fix might be possible.)

utf16-chinese-v10 is identified as coming from the SDI editor. Forrest, do
you have clearText capability, or can you otherwise use your editor to do
something like: read a CGM w/o a FontProp element, and rewrite it with
such an element included?

>3) We can generate this element with our software.

Two questions:

1.) ...but you can't input / edit / output a WebCGM, right? You can only
generate.

2.) Could you use that capability to generate a very simple 2.0-valid (or
even 1.0-valid) WebCGM with something like 'arial' in the FontList and a
FontProp that "does the right thing"? (Maybe with just a single text
string as content.)

Regards,
-Lofton.
