Subject: Re: [chairs] your input on OASIS functionality enhancements

Hi Karl,

I'm particularly glad to hear that work is getting underway on
document repository issues. I think we need to have the resources to
have our presentations, ppt and pdf and open office available for
public viewing, not just downloading as files per se. We also need to
have similar facilities for implementation guides, primers, etc. I'm
working on two of those, WSRP and CAP from EM, and I just tried to
uploaded a 60-slide ppt presentation and discovered that I can't
upload batches. I ended up putting the html version of the ppt on
another site but that doesn't do our OASIS public viewers much good.
I also have a largish amount of archival material that was developed
prior to the time when HumanMarkup joined OASIS which I would like to
make available from the TC pages as part of the effort to consolidate
all of this material in one place if possible. I know that similar
conditions and considerations exist for CAP under EM and some other
efforts.

We've made some good progress, and I hope we are all appreciative of
the effort that has gone into making the administrative tasks easier.
So thanks very much and I also appreciate the complexity of the tasks
ahead.

So, to summarize, my wishlist consists of:

1- batch upload capabilities so we can upload entire directories for
such projects as presentations;
2 - ability to display presentations and documents as html from
documents repository; and
3 - allowing public document repository to show directories and allow
full listings rather than search-only capability since presentations
can result in very large numbers of documents, all of which need to
be publicly accessible.

Last thing, #3 above probably needs to be thought out better, and I
have gotten some explanatory guidance from Brent that relates to it
and which I will try to get to soon, but now that we are back from
the holidays, the schedule gets nuts again. So I don't know when I
will have the time to check the url advice to see if I can make
things work.

Thanks,
Rex
