Subject: Re: [chairs] XML - What, Why, How?

Title: Re: [chairs] XML - What, Why, How?
Scott,

That seems to be a pretty elite group right now - all of 16 of us
out of 4,000 odd!!!

Seems like OASIS has a bit of a hard time getting anyone other
than the BOD and staff members to sign up there? ; -)

Perhaps we need more of a forum style list - and just
automatically include everyone into it - and then post a
daily topic summary to their email if there are any postings?

Or maybe discount coupons good toward $25 off your
membership dues if you join the discuss list?!? ; -)

Cheers, DW

David, Susan, et al,

This is a really good conversation.  I’d love to see it open up to include more than just our esteemed Chairs.

Check out, and consider moving this discussion to, the Member-discuss group at http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/oasis-member-discuss/   Of course, you and your friends should consider joining that group to discuss this and other interesting topics.

A side benefit of bringing this discussion to the member-discuss, is it gets it off the Chairs mail list.  This is advantageous as off-topic discussion annoys those Chairs who expect the Chairs list to be used for its intended (and low traffic) purpose.

Enjoy!

Scott…

Susan,

Any chance you could donate those presentation materials to the OASIS e-Gov TC??

I agree that there has to be a connection between their business domain and the

XML ROI use case.

Hopefully once they "get it" - they can peruse a selection of executive overviews

from the OASIS TC's that might connect between their needs and the capabilities

that our groups have created.  It can be a bit overwhelming - so making it simpler

for people to find what they want in the store front and the back shelves - it

important - maybe we can get WalMart to design something for us?!? ; -)

Thanks, DW

Yes, same problem seen and the need for educational tools. Thanks for bringing this up. I've had our contractor Mitre hold  a XML for managers class which was very well received. And much needed. Follow-up is also required because if you don't work with this it's quickly forgotten - we don't want the benefits forgotten. That's where our efforts should be focused.

David - Great idea!  I have run into similar lapses in
understanding.  Maybe this is something Robin Cover can do on the site.  I
agree it should be at the top level and additionally available in a way can
use it in our respective TCs.  Good start on the bullets too!  Thanks, Elysa
