Watch your laptops

I heard a story this week that should make us all pay a little
more attention to thievery at TC meetings.  Seems an OASIS TC
(which shall remain nameless for security reasons) at a meeting
recently in an upscale hotel was visited by a cleaning crew who
told the TC that they would lock up the room for them while the TC
was out having lunch.  When the committee returned, they found
most of their laptops gone.  The kicker: on checking with the
hotel, it was determined that in fact there was no such cleaning
crew; the whole thing was set up.

Please remind your members that to a thief (or even to an
ordinarily honest person trying to support a family on minimum
wage), a table full of laptops looks like a table piled high with
jewels or thousand dollar bills.  If you leave the room, TAKE IT
WITH YOU.  If six pounds of laptop is just too much to carry, at
least learn how to pop the hard drive out of your machine and take
that so that you don't lose all your work and compromise your
data.
