Subject: Re: [chairs] Problems with pranksters on TC calls
Many of us that call into these meetings are not on MS platforms, though. Like I noted earlier, sending the dialin information out via bcc seems to keep this problem in check. we send via bcc, because when we did otherwise, offlist discussions started, as people did reply-to-all, and we want discussions archived. This seems to be THE new problem. See http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/02/anonymous-scotland-yard/. Part of the solution is the annoying lobby feature on things like Microsoft Lync. As often as not, you will be stranding someone you want to let in because you didn't notice they got there after a consuming discussion got started. It is entirely appropriate that a TC Chair and Secretary take measures such as roll-call, monitoring and accounting for all people dialing in and, as Gershon states, providing dial-in details offlist and privately to all TC members and observers. Some are sponsored by large organizations, which are kindly providing dial-in facilities, and some groups use the free freeconferencecall.com <http://freeconferencecall.com/>. On very few occasions I've experienced problems with uninvited or unwanted participants on bridges. Probably best is to get a different conference session and password (if you use one) and share this information only in the TC calendar which is only visible to OASIS members, instead of posting it to the TC list, which are public and accessible through lists.oasis-open.org/archives <http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives>.
