Subject: Re: [members] News on JIRA at OASIS and a cheat-sheet

Hi Chet,

Great document comparing the JIRA versuions.

The images in the PDF were not very readable to me in Fedora's Document Viewer. I am not sure if others found the same issue. Also, it would help to include in document which version of JIRA we are at and which version we are going to.

Thanks again for a great job improving OASIS infrastructure.

OASIS members and TC chairs,

If your TC doesn't use JIRA to track issues, feel free to ignore this email. But if you do, please read on.

OASIS will shortly roll out an updated version of JIRA. It is part of our program to improve and enhance our service to all of you. The new JIRA will move us up to the current release of the software and make it into a hosted solution, providing better maintenance, support and reliability and ensuring that we stay current with JIRA upgrades over time. The roll-over is planned for March 16th.

I have been comparing the new JIRA with the current version. In the attached document, Introducing-new-JIRA.pdf, I compare the basic screens side-by-side. Please have a look at the document to see how the new interface will compare with the current one. I believe that this will help you get up to speed on the new look and feel quickly. So far, my experience is that the biggest change between the two will be UI-refactoring.

Before giving the ok to roll out the new version of JIRA, I will run through a test plan to ensure, among other things, that all your issues in their current states are present in the new environment. Come that Monday morning, you should find a new look-and-feel but otherwise all your issues present and accounted for.

Feel free to drop me a line with any questions. I will share any updates as we get closer to the roll-over date.
