Title: RE: [ciq] FW: [chairs] reminder: quarterly submission schedule

Ram,

We, at Virtual Access Networks do intend to use xNAL in the near future as we develop a product that extends CRM/ERP solutions to devices. However, as of now, before the event I December, it falls outside our development scope. My concern it, if we commit to adopting xNAL, we will be under pressure to demonstrate the capability and we become the official test bed for the standard. At least, that is the kind of pressure we have had at the OMG working groups... so, although I don't mind discussing our adoption (even presenting on it) of xNAL, I cannot commit at the moment to show a proof-of-concept or come under pressure to demonstrate it's usage..., because we have many other higher priority issues to deal with before the end of the year.

Please advise...

Cheers,

CIQ members

We have two implementation of xNAL standards by two OASIS members namely, XML Global and MSI Business Solutions. I am not sure whether we have any other OASIS member who has implemented our standards. If we have one more implementation, we can then submit xNAL for consideration as OASIS standard by OASIS members (Note, we need atleast 3 OASIS members implementing our standards).

I am not sure how we can find out whether any of the other OASIS members are using our standards in their organisation. May be Karl can give us some suggestion on how we can do a search.

Cheers

Ram

Chairs:

This is to remind you of the schedule for submitting Committee Specifications for consideration by the OASIS membership for approval as OASIS Standards.

As stated in the OASIS TC Process, Committee Specifications should be submitted to me 30 days before the start of a calender quarter. So, if you've got a specification that you want to submit to OASIS members for the winter calender quarter review and voting cycle then you need to get it to me by the first of December, along with all the accompanying materials specified by the TC Process (i.e. documentation, certifications of implementation, etc.) and the IPR policy.

Note that the TC's decision to submit a Committee Specification to OASIS is separate from the TC's approval of a spec as a Committee Specification; submission to OASIS is not automatic for Committee Specifications. So, it goes like this:

1. The TC votes to approve the spec as a Committee Specification. This requires a 2/3 vote.

2. The TC votes to submit the Committee Specification to OASIS members for consideration as an OASIS Standard.

3. The TC submits to me by the first of December the complete package of information required by the TC Process (first paragraph of Section 2) and the IPR.

You've got about a month to get this finished up. The deadline for the following quarterly cycle is the first of March.
