Colin,
I'm a pragmatist on this. Noone can force
any TC to do anything.
My spin is therefore to try and build pieces that
just happen to be
integrated with something else. So for
Hermes ebMS, jCAM is a plug-in.
All I can suggest is that you have pluggable CIQ
parts for popular formats.
I know I'm on the hook to do this with jCAM - I
will get to that in December - right now
I have a huge backlog - dealing with the Interop
demo...

Interop. demo
This is just unbelievable!
I
don't know the Best Practice for Technical Committees but surely to goodness
there is a clause somewhere that states you must identify the key
drivers of your proposed standard and socialise them with the rest of
the OASIS community.
I
think this issue is one to put in front of OASIS management and
get some community wide discussion going.
Because CIQ is so generic to data exchange we
are going to have this situation more and more.
I
think it is best to get it in the open, now..or at least soonish.
Cheers
Colin
Hi Ram,
I'm afraid the answer is that we did not consider it and I'm afraid
I also must say that I am unfamiliar with the CIQ
specs.
Do you think they are a good match for the WS-Context
specification?
Eric
Hi Martin and
Eric,
I am the OASIS Chair for Customer
Information Standards TC (OASIS CIQ TC).
I understanding that you are presenting the
following demo at XML 2004:
Nov.17, 1:15PM -- OASIS WS-Composite Application
Framework - Arjuna, IONA and
Oracle will simulate three Web-based
storefronts that use WS-CAF to share
customer
information.
I am keen to know whether you considered
representing the customer information
content that you are going to share in the demo using the
OASIS CIQ specs. for
customer information. By this way, the whole demo will be standards
based and in
particular, representation of the content using an industry
spec. is very key for any
web services application.
Looking forward to your views.
Regards,
Ram
