Dear Ram,

We are very disappointed to hear that you will not be able to attend the workshop on behalf of OASIS.  We were looking forward to discussions with you on address standards, especially after your comments on the "Towards an international address standard" paper.  In order to include OASIS in the discussions on an international address standard, would it be feasible to recommend another person from the OASIS CIQ committee to represent you at the workshop in Copenhagen?

Regards,

Serena

Hi Serena,

I do not have any financial support and therefore, it is unfortunate that I will not be in a position to

attend the workshop. Good luck with the workshop.

Regards,

Ram

Dear Ram,

Below an e-mail that went out to all the presenters at the ISO workshop on address standards.  I thought I'd send it to you so that you are kept informed in case you will be attending.  Have you had any feedback from OASIS yet?

On behalf of Working Group 7, Information Communities, of ISO/TC 211, Geographic information/Geomatics, I would like to thank you for accepting the invitation to present on behalf of OASIS at the workshop on address standards, coinciding with the upcoming ISO/TC 211 plenary meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark.  We are excited to have confirmed presentations from the following countries and organizations: Australia, Denmark, Japan, South Africa, UK and USA, INSPIRE (Europe), ISO/TC211 WG on Ubiquitous geographic information, Universal Postal Union (UPU) and we are awaiting confirmation from ISO/TC 154 and OASIS. Below a few arrangements regarding the workshop:

1. Presentation title

Please e-mail the title of your presentation to Serena Coetzee at scoetzee@cs.up.ac.za by 21 April 2008 so that we can include it in the program.

2. Paper for the proceedings

As you know, we intend to publish proceedings of the workshop as a future reference.   We would appreciate if your paper could include, but not be limited to, a viewpoint from the perspective of your country or organization on the first four bullet points listed as the purpose of the workshop (see also the attached invitation):

•           What is an address?  What is the definition of an address in the current address standard?

•           What is the scope of the current address standard?

•           Why do we need an address standard?

•           Can we benefit from an international address standard?

Please use the attached document as a template for the paper and e-mail the final paper as a MS Word document to Serena Coetzee at scoetzee@cs.up.ac.za by 5 May 2008 so that we can include it in the proceedings.

3. Dinner after the workshop

You are cordially invited by the sponsor of the workshop, National Survey and Cadastre, Denmark (KMS-DK), to a dinner on Sunday evening after the workshop.  Kindly e-mail Morten Lind at mol@kms.dk by 19 May 2008 to accept the invitation to the dinner.

4. Dates

21 April 2008:    Title for your presentation as it will appear on the program

25 April 2008:    The program will be announced on the ISO/TC211 website

5 May 2008:      Your final paper as it will appear in the proceedings

19 May 2008:    Accept/decline Sunday evening dinner invitation

25 May 2008:    ISO Workshop on address standards

The details for the workshop are included in the attached invitation. Just a reminder that the workshop participation is free of charge but transport and accommodation have to be provided by delegates and presenters themselves.

We are looking forward to your participation in the workshop.  If there is anyone you think we should invite as a delegate to the workshop, please let us know well in advance as space at the workshop is limited.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely,

Serena Coetzee
