Subject: RE: [ciq] Fwd: Notes from the Quebec Addressing (PT 19160) meeting

This is very good news!

Let's hope they adopt xAL v3 without too much change and then we'll have at least some of the suite standardised to ISO level.

Cheers

Colin

CIQ TC,

FYI. OASIS CIQ TC has now a formal liaison arrangement with ISO/TC 211.

Dear Ram, I trust you have seen that the OASIS liaison was confirmed at the ISO/TC 211 meeting in Quebec last week (there is a link to the resolutions on the ISO/TC 211 home page at www.isotc211.org) - welcome aboard!  In the email below there are a few notes from the Addressing meeting that was held in Quebec. The full details are on the project page at http://www.isotc211.org/protdoc/pt19160/.  The ISO/TC 211 secretariat  (Bjørnhild Sæteroy at bjs@standard.no) can provide you with the username and password to access the project page.

The major work to be done between now and the next plenary in Southampton in May/June 2010, is a review of address standards. The work will be done via email, and if necessary, conference calls. We have divided the review work among three teams. Details are on the project page.  We have provisionally assigned OASIS to the second team, but you are welcome to participate in any or all of the teams. Please let me where you would like to participate so that I can inform the respective team leaders.

Finally, I am sure you will be pleased to know that there will be an ISO/TC 211 plenary week in Canberra, Australia in December 2010.

Subject: Notes from the Quebec Addressing (PT 19160) meeting

Dear all,

I trust you all arrived back home safe and sound from Quebec.

I have created a project page at http://www.isotc211.org/protdoc/pt19160/ where you can find the notes from the meeting, our work plan and other project related information. To access the page, you need the same username and password as for the other protected areas on the ISO/TC 211 website.

Note that I have added a 30 November item to the schedule as a deadline to obtain access to the address standards that are to be reviewed. I would appreciate if the relevant people (see the table with address standards on the project page) could send me either the document or a URL to the address standard by 30 November, which I will add to the project page. This is required so that the team leaders know which standards we can get access to when preparing their work plans for 9 December.

Also a reminder that we agreed to finalize the members of the three teams by 9 December. You will see that there are country names and ? listed as team members where additional members were suggested in the Quebec meeting.

If your name is not in the list on the project page and you would like to join the project team, please inform the ISO/TC 211 secretariat, i.e. Bjørnhild Sæteroy at bjs@standard.no.

Regards,

Serena Coetzee
