Announcing the New CMIS Solution Catalog

Dear CMIS Community,

the CMIS Standard has created a lot of traction within the ECM community, it is now supported by many leading ECM vendors, and the OASIS CMIS Technical Commitee is working towards the next release 1.1.

But it's not used as much as it could be by the ones who should benefit from it most, the customers and end users dealing with day-to-day challenges to create, edit and share content between the various repositories and applications. Little awareness exists outside of the ECM expert teams about the value and benefits of CMIS. And the number of non-ECM vendors using CMIS to connect to repositories is still small.

To change this, I decided to come up with a vendor independent CMIS Solutions Catalog, presenting all available solutions and repositories that are able to connect through CMIS.

The catalog is still in early stages, I would like to work together with vendors and the TC to build it out. But the base structure is in place, consisting of 3 primary views:

1) A list of all available Solutions, which are typically CMIS client applications delivering certain functionality to end users

2) A list of all available Repositories, acting as a CMIS server to providing content services to the client applications

3) A list of all available Companies, presenting all solutions and all repositories of each company in one place.

The new web site at http://www.cmis-solutions.com has been switched to the Internet today, and you may have a first look at it. Access to the catalog itself is still restricted to registered users, until more content is in there. As a member of the TC, I am happy to provide you with access, just register through the login page or send me an email.


If you are working for a vendor, please help me getting your solutions into the catalog. With whom of your company can I follow-up to get your solution details fille din?.

I plan to offer this service at no charge for vendors or customers. The hurdle should be as low as possible to get all available information into the catalog. There will be additional services, marketing programs and premium entries at a later stage, but these are optional. I will find some interesting ways to spend your marketing budget if your are interested.


For those who don't know me yet, I used to work in various roles in partner management in Germany and internationally for more than 10 years at Documentum and EMC. I am now self employed since a few months, and not connected to any vendor anymore. I am based in Munich, Germany, and I look at this as a global initiative that is not location based. I believe that my experience in partner management is a great asset, because making CMIS work is essentially a task of making all the related companies work together. I feel very comfortable with my experience in ECM as well as my technical, sales and marketing skills to drive this forward successfully.

Please let me know what you think, alol suggestions or ideas are very welcome. And please let me know about the performance of the site, my current hoster may not be the best choice right now.
