Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-377) Clarify distinctionbetween collections and feeds
[ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-377?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13639#action_13639 ] Florent Guillaume commented on CMIS-377: ---------------------------------------- Feed is defined by Atom, and is just a way to list several entries at the same time. Collection is defined by AtomPub, and have several added features: - they can be advertised in the service document, with optional metadata (like categories), - they have additional standard semantics associated (POST for creation, media entries, etc.). For instance see AtomPub 8.3.5 (Usage in Atom Feed Documents): > The app:collection element may appear as a child of an atom:feed or atom:source element > in an Atom Feed Document. Its content identifies a Collection by which new Entries > can be added to appear in the feed. But that's about it. > Clarify distinction between collections and feeds > ------------------------------------------------- > > Key: CMIS-377 > URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-377 > Project: OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) TC > Issue Type: Bug > Components: REST/AtomPub Binding > Reporter: David Caruana > Assignee: Al Brown > > Part 2 AtomPub binding distinguishes between collections and feeds i.e. > collections: relationships, folder children, policies > feeds: object parents, folder descendants, folder tree, type descendants, changes > plus, some collections are described in the service document section which could easily be described as feeds e.g. types children > Need to clarify distinction between collection and feed.
