Hi Jay,

There are use cases for us where allowing third-parties to set localName and localNamespace on both the Object Type and the Property Definition would be more valuable than allowing clients to set the id for either resource.  We have client applications that provision custom object types and use the localName and localNamespace attributes in order to denote semantic meaning about the property that our client controls can pick up and then render appropriately.  I am not sure on other repositories usage of these two attributes, but we have found it very useful to provide rendering hints for form field controls that edit the property.
