Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-714) Proposal to addRetention & Legal Hold Policies for next version of spec

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-714?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=26488#action_26488 ]

Martin Hermes commented on CMIS-714:
------------------------------------

I think thats a general question, not only related to Retention Management. Having mass-operations which allow updates beeing applied to multiple resources with one call could be helpful in many use cases. And yes, there are technical issues to be solved for this. Difficult for the implementation of such mass operations is usually the error handling. What happens if the operation succeeds only on a sub-set of the resources? Must a repository assure that either all or none resources are updated or is this repository specific? But from a CMIS client perspective I would like such a feature.

> A new Draft Version 0.2 of the proposal to add Retention & Legal Hold Policies has been uploaded. Main differences to the previous version:
> - A "Managed Retention Policy" has been added to support repository-determined retention periods (Thanks to Jens)
> - Previous Retention Policy with expiration date and optional destruction date has been split into two policies: Retention Policy and Destruction Policy
> Feedback appreciated
