Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-758) Discussion of more powerful batch operations for next version

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-758?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=34460#action_34460 ]

Jay Brown commented on CMIS-758:
--------------------------------

In response to Florian's first comment.
1. Yes indeed, this could be further simplified by using a type of query to get the same result. Thank you for pointing this out.

2. Concerning the limitation where we not be able to perform operations on ids created as a result of operations from earlier in a batch. You are correct; and this is intentional. I was specifically avoiding the concept of variables in order to keep this design small / simple. There is a quite a jump between this and a more complex design that would allow such things. I am curious to see if the TC thinks that it would be worth the additional complexity to achieve this, since it is certainly do-able.

I also like your idea of stored procedures [1] but I think these are two different (yet complimentary) things.

[1] As long as they did not require any additional component operations over what is already defined in the spec. That way they could always be implemented on top of any CMIS implementation.

> What additional batch features should we support in v.next? (e.g. batch Create, Delete, ...)
> What should they look like? etc.
