Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (CMIS-758) Discussion of more powerful batch operations for next version

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/CMIS-758?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=35391#action_35391 ]

Florian Müller commented on CMIS-758:
-------------------------------------

Is there a reason why we have to overload SELECT ... FROM?

Something like this could work, too:
RETRIEVE 'id1', 'id2', 'id3',... [PROPERTIES prop1, prop2, ...]

If the PROPERTIES part is missing, all properties are returned. If the PROPERTIES part is present, only the properties in the list are returned. If a property doesn't exist for an object, it is ignored.

Such a statement would be easier to parse and to distinguish from a normal SELECT ... FROM statement.
