Subject: Minutes of Meeting on April 21, 2015

Minutes for Meeting of CMIS4DAM TC on April 21, 2015

Attendees:

Ken Baclawski, Northeastern University
Peter Beemster, SDL
Ray Gauss II, Alfresco Software
Irina Guseva
Carsten Hoffmann, Canto, Inc.
Gershon Janssen

There were only 4 voting members at the meeting so there was no quorum.
Voting members who have not attended the most recent two meetings will
lose there voting privileges.

1. Use Cases

The use cases on the wiki were updated. The use cases that are new for DAM are
now italicized.

The concept of a federation was clarified and incorporated into the definitions
of the actors.

2. Metadata

Metadata interoperability and mapping were discussed. While no decisions could
be made because there was no quorum, there were some useful suggestions:

Use case 1A is concerned with serialization, so this could be handled by
requiring a specific serialization format for DAM-compliant systems.

Use case 1B is concerned with mapping, and this could be handled by requiring
that a specific vocabulary be used for each concept.

The vocabulary of a property is specified by the namespace of the property.
Each standard vocabulary has one or more namespaces that it uses.

There was a discussion about how one introduces new object types. CMIS
requires that all objects have a primary type that is either document or
folder. One can add secondary types to objects.

There has been a suggestion for CMIS 2.0 to support dependent types that are
neither documents nor folders and are dependent on an object for their
existence, but so far there has not been a consensus on this proposal.

The discussion will continue at the next meeting.

3. Next Meeting

Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

Respectfully submitted by Ken Baclawski
