Subject: RE: Check of Pick Up Point

Paul,

Thanks that answers the question. Basically, for significant changes, we start with a 100% fresh template and copy paste to create the starting point for revisions. Thanks.

Hi Dave and COEL TC members,

(also copying Chet, in case he may have some additional guidance or comment)

There are two likely paths for publishing revisions to COEL, now that it is an OASIS Standard:

- Publish a set of Errata to COEL Version 1.0, as described in the TC Process document [1]

- Publish a new numbered Version, for example COEL Version 1.1 or COEL Version 2.0.

The key factor in deciding between these two paths is whether the anticipated changes constitute a "Material Change", which is defined as:

"any change to the content of a Work Product that would require a compliant application or implementation to be modified or rewritten in order to remain compliant or which adds new features or otherwise expands the scope of the work product." [2]

If the changes are likely to constitute a Material Change, then it would not be appropriate to publish as Errata.

You mentioned both typos and enhancements. Typos can be addressed as Errata, but it is better to address enhancements by publishing a new numbered Version.

It sounds like it may be simpler to initiate a new numbered Version to accomplish both goals. This would follow the same process as you have used in publishing COEL Version 1.0, beginning with requesting a new template or starter document, using the request form at [3].

If you decide to publish Errata to address just the typos, I'll be happy to address any questions you may have about that process.

Best regards,

Paul

Paul,

Have had the spec in the wild for a while, we have identified a few typos and some ideas for enhancement. We normally edit on a Word version of the document.

Is there a recommended starting point for revisions? If so, can you point us to it? We are just remembering the number of trivial edits that took place after we âclosedâ the working drafts.

Thanks and take care of you and yours.
