Subject: Nick Malik Requests Membership in LegalXML Court Filing Document SC

Nick Malik of Sierra Systems wishes to join LegalXML Court Filing Document SC. He or she is eligible for membership based on membership rules for this group.

Please visit http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/legalxml-courtfiling/courtfiling-doc/manage/pending_request.php to evaluate this request and to see all of the other pending requests to join this group.

Additional information entered by Nick Malik in support of his/her application:

I am a Technical Architect with Sierra Systems Group, a consulting company that specializes in systems integration, software development and package installation. I have 23 years of software development experience, with significant time spent on Microsoft, Unix, and Mainframe platforms.

As a technical architect, and vocal proponent of XML standards, I developmed the initial technical architecture for the current ongoing e-filing project in the King County (Seattle) courthouse, as well as proposed architectures for other outstanding projects, including proposals in Integrated Justice and Jail management.

I am not an attorney or court officer. However, I am familiar with legal terms and concepts (having assisting my wife in her studies to become a paralegal).

While I am, first and foremost, a technologist , I am quite able to present ideas in non-technical terms, and I hope to provide technical feedback and support to the effort to create standards for legal documents.
