Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (CSAF-34) CSAF 2.0 Localization Support

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/CSAF-34?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=70058#comment-70058 ]

Allan Thomson commented on CSAF-34:
-----------------------------------

The STIX 2.1 section to look at is

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ShNq4c3e1CkfANmD9O–mdZ5H0O_GLnjN28a_yrEaco/edit#heading=h.cfz5hcantmvx

In support of using STIX 2.1 language solution:

1) It supports single language identification if that is all that is required (i..e english version only)

2) It allows multiple languages of content without requiring to republish the entire object

3) It supports separate authors creating translated content without requiring the original author to publish the translated content

4) It allows simultaneous and delayed publication of language content with versioning so that each can be independently versioned

In general the language solution proposed in STIX2.1 supports many (if not all) the use cases that I understand CSAF has and has the added advantage of solving the problem in a way that another group of technical experts have also already reviewed and agreed to.

> * Eric suggested the review of localization support with the following options:
> * Language out of scope
> * Define a specific document language
> * Multiple languages
> * A given document has a default language first, and other translations are done and externalized.
> * Eric suggest that localization and language should be considered and not ignored.
> * Paul Patrick, shared the specific section of the “STIX Version 2.1. Part 1: STIX Core Concepts” document for review:
> * [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ShNq4c3e1CkfANmD9O--mdZ5H0O_GLnjN28a_yrEaco/edit]
> This issue is to track support for localization in CSAF 2.0.
