I would disagree... OpenIOC/Yara/Snort doesn't even come close to
supporting the use cases that the current patterning proposal supports.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why this is being discussed again, as you
(IIRC, we had dinner together at the f2f) are bringing this up after
we agreed to the proposal and discussed why OpenIOC/Yara/Snort were
not useful for this?
