Subject: Re: [cti] STIX 2.0 is DONE!

Hi Rich and hello members of the CTI TC. Congratulations on your work. This is just a short work to let you know that TC Admin JIRA ticket https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/TCADMIN-2544 has been opened to track the work on the publication. I will let you know when it is underway.

All,

As you probably saw, the ballot to approve STIX 2.0 as a Committee Specification Draft (CSD) has passed with a vote of 38-0 (with 1 abstention). Per OASIS TC process for work products, the STIX co-chairs will now request that OASIS publish STIX 2.0 CSD01 as a formal work product. Congratulations everyone, and thanks for all of your hard work! With this approval, the TC’s intent is that there will be no backwards incompatible changes from this document in the STIX 2 series and therefore your investments in STIX 2 development will be preserved.

Keep in mind that you will not immediately see the CSD published on the OASIS web site. OASIS staff will format the documents to comply with OASIS guidelines and then post them. Once that is posted, we’ll send another note so that you have the canonical URLs for the specification. In the meantime, the best place to go is the cover page on Google docs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yvqWaPPnPW-2NiVCLqzRszcx91ffMowfT5MmE9Nsy_w/edit.

As you know, the TC has already begun the hard work of designing subsequent releases, starting with the great work everyone did at the recent face-to-face on STIX 2.1.  While that work continues, the TC will need to decide if we wish to pursue Committee Specification (CS) status for the STIX 2.0 CSD.  According to OASIS rules, this entails a public review process.  You’ll continue to see 2.1 development topics come across the lists, and in the near future we’ll have a call and e-mail discussion on whether we want to pursue Committee Specification status for STIX 2.0.

Again, thanks everyone for all of your work…whether it’s dialing in to the working calls, providing comments on the list, writing normative text, commenting on the drafts, or just reviewing it and voting. We’ve accomplished a lot over the past year and I’m sure we’ll begin to see products supporting STIX 2.0 entering the market in short order.

Great work everyone!

Regards,

Rich
