Subject: Re: [cti] Motion for Open Repository for the stix-slider
Why not just put a wrapper that either auto-detects the version and goes the direction expected or the wrapper takes an argument that is explicit. Would seem simple enough
☺ Allan From: "cti@lists.oasis-open.org" <cti@lists.oasis-open.org> on behalf of "Piazza, Rich" <rpiazza@mitre.org> I guess if we had in mind going “up and down” from the beginning, we could have designed it that way. The elevator was written before the existence of the python-stix2 api. I agree with Jason, that the fewer independent STIX utilities we have the better. I guess if we had a “swiss army knife” approach: validator, elevator, slider, etc, that would be optimal. There isn’t much common code in the slider and elevator at this point – so combining them now would cause a delay in the availability of a sider capability being released. On the other hand, this idea is something to keep in mind for future development. From: Jason Keirstead <Jason.Keirstead@ca.ibm.com> Not passionate on the topic and I can't tell MITRE what to do, but I kind of agree... would be nice for users to unify it so I don't have to check out and build/update two
utils/libraries...
------------- I move that the TC approve by unanimous consent requesting OASIS to set up an OASIS Open Repository project named cti-stix-slider using the following pieces of information: Purpose Statement: The slider is a Python application which will convert STIX 2.0 content to STIX 1.x content. Initial Maintainers: Greg Back, Rich Piazza Open Source License: BSD-3-Clause License GitHub Name: cti-stix-slider Short Description: OASIS Open Repository: stix-slider – a Python application to convert STIX 2.0 content to STIX 1.x content ------------- If there have been no objections before Friday November 10 at 21:00 UTC (5:00 PM EDT), and unless Rich Struse has clarified a longer time period for input, I will submit the form [1] to ask OASIS to create the repository. If
there have been objections, I will ask Jane to open a ballot. [1] https://www.oasis-open.org/resources/tc-admin-requests/open-repository-request |
