Subject: Subject: Closure of the OASIS DCML Network TC

To OASIS DCML Network TC Members and observers:

As part of the organizational plans for the OASIS DCML Member Section, the project leaders plan to consolidate some of the existing projects into the work of the DCML Framework TC. The Framework TC's charter already encompasses Network-oriented functions as well. That TC always was planned as the source of the overarching rules for DCML methods, to create shared schema and definitions that would be used in commonly by all specific applications of DCML. The charter for the Framework TC is being clarified to recognize this consolidation. Generally, it is the plan of the DCML community to concentrate first on generalized methods, using software configuration management as the primary initial use case, and then in a second phase to return to separate elaborations of those functions for servers, specific applications and the like.
In connection with that phased plan, the Framework TC plans to rename itself "DCML Configuration Management TC" to highlight the initial phase of these plans. While this committee has elected to close, the entire technical agenda of the DCML project remains in place; we would welcome your participation in the first phase as part of the Configuration Management committee. See

The DCML committees and Member Section welcome your continued participation. Please feel free to contact the OASIS DCML Framework TC chair, Tim Howes at howes@opsware.com, or OASIS staff if you have any questions.
    Regards Jamie Clark
