I think it's more a case that we have bigger fish to fry at
the moment. We have a lot to do if we want to have something
up and running by the next DITA NA conference.
We pretty much agreed that the current colour scheme and logo
are not great. I think "ick" sums it up nicely.
But first we need a taxonomy for classifying content,
then a navigation structure, determining governance,
porting articles, etc. With what limited time we have this
is just not a priority and I don't want us to lose focus
on what needs to be done first. Am not shelving the idea,
just postponing it until we can properly deal with it.
Cheers!

Well, hell, Carol. We can reopen the decision. Got any
good ideas? I'm afraid I assumed that you would not want to
change the name.
Best,

I must admit, I'm kind of disappointed you
decided against a new name for the site. Now seems like
the perfect time.
Also, it would be great to have a new site logo
that incorporates the bird.
Ah well, it's up to y'all.

Subject: [dita-adoption-fasc] Minutes for February
8, 2016 DITA Adoption FASC Meeting
To: " dita-adoption-fasc@lists.oasis-open.org"
< dita-adoption-fasc@lists.oasis-open.org>
Present: Don Day, Keith
Schengili-Roberts, Kris Eberlein
Absent: Mark Poston
Gave Kris a "tour" of the existing MindMap /
draft taxonomic hierarchy for the website.
Along the way she made some excellent point
that we need descriptions for most/all of the
nodes, so that people are clear what the
labels/metadata will mean in context.
Other discussions:
- suggested that when a version of the new
website is launched that those who have
product- or service-related content on the
existing website should have a deadline to
migrate their own content
- need for guidelines for content we want to
have on the new website, including:
- key message: website is here to promote
DITA (not other, competing methodologies)
- content is filtered by DITA thought
leaders
- dita.xml.org
this is somewhere you can go for curated,
accurate, good content on DITA
Discussion on possibly re-branding
dita.xml.org:
- Kris made the good comment that we should
concentrate on rebranding the user experience
rather than the name
- existing tagline is good
- logo (and colour scheme) could do with
some work ("lacks nuance")
- in the end, it was agreed that changing
the name of
dita.xml.org was not a high priority
Action items:
- Comment/describe definitions for hierarchy
nodes
- Kris to send to all her previous research on
dita.xml.org website
- Kris to re-examine existing website and
derive Subject Scheme for Products and
Services
