Subject: Minutes for May 2, 2016 DITA Adoption FASC Meeting

Minutes for May 2, 2016 DITA Adoption FASC Meeting

Present: Don Day, Keith Schengili-Roberts, Richard Simms
Regrets: Mark Poston (U.K. holiday)
Absent: Kris Eberlein

Richard sent Don and myself two separate sets of DITA files: the first was of an example of how metadata is represented in the prolog of a topic, and the second a copy of the exported Subject Scheme.

The former set of files are an example of the type of metadata expected in legacy topics being converted for the new website. The latter is an export from a software tool called PoolParty, and represents the full hierarchy of values as it currently exists. Richard then gave us a quick tour of how it all works, noting that the values for keys and navtitle are doubled, as they are used as a slug in the URL for each individual webpage.

Don outlined two phases for working with this content:
1. We need to replace the existing prolog structure with what is presented in the template we were sent.
2. We then need to add the metadata to the revamped prolog by hand, picking values from the Subject Scheme.

Richard outlined that at the minimum the following metadata values need to be added (at least one of the following):
- author
- audience
- category
- mark everything as "version 1.0"
- article type: this maps to the content types in the subject scheme, where we might have variant types (like News, Events, etc); type="article" is the default

Richard also pointed out that the draft dita.xml.org website is being worked on actively, with daily changes/updates to the UI.

Action Items:
Keith and Don to start work on converting existing targeted legacy content with the updated prolog content.
