We have quorum. JoAnn moves to approve the minutes, Rodolfo seconds and none objects. Action items: 1) JoAnn to send the details of the XLIFF/DITA webinar. Completed. 2) Gershon will add links between DITA and DITA Adoption pages. Continued. 3) Brenda Oakley prepared a list of DITA resources. Brenda will incorporate new additions and send them to the list. Continued. A discussion of DITA Adoption goals was proposed and participants provided their feedback. The topics discussed were: Weaknesses of DITA: people think that is targeted at US only. One of the biggest problems is the complexity of the standard. Specialization is one of the strongest advantages f DITA, but it also introduces complexity. Business people may think that DITA is too technical, as it requires XML skills. Focus should be put on how easy it is to get started. Geographical areas are an important criteria to define adoption. Line of Industry is another approach. JoAnn proposes to keep the discussion at the wiki, where strengths, opportunities and difficulties could be listed. ACTION (All): to follow the suggestions and write down an analysis of weaknesses, strengths and opportunities. ACTION (All): what does it mean to say DITA Adoption? Write it down and share it. ACTION (JoAnn & Gershon): get the wiki working. Mathew Varghese informed that DITA will be discussed at an Open Source presentation in Bangalore. DITA/XLIFF webinar. This webinar was originally started at the DITA translation SC, but JoAnn considered that it would be better to move it to DITA Adoption. There will be 2 panels: one focusing on business decisions and the other will focus on technical details. One of the best advantages of using XLIFF is the ability to combine multiple topics into one XLIFF file. It would be interesting to discuss pricing models for translation when using DITA. JoAnn will provide a slide showing the cost reductions of using DITA. Translation cost savings are a good advantage of DITA. However, some people is not aware of it and we cant take it for granted. JoAnn invited to visit http://dita.xml.org and look at the Technical Writing lists, there are 4 articles there and JoAnn invited to submit more content.
