Thanks for the notes.  I would like to clarify my remarks for the following:

• Scott Tsao requested to have a webinar about resources to get started with DITA.
  I suggested that we host a webinar to give an overview and demonstration of dita.xml.org, with the added emphasis that this website represents a single-source clearing house for DITA with the backing of the OASIS DITA Adoption TC (a promotion opportunity to encourage contributions from the DITA community at large).
• Scott said that having Schemas and DTDs for DITA may be an advantage, but switching from Schema to DTD or vice-versa may be painful and its a disadvantage.
  Although by offering both the DTD and XSD for the DITA schemas seems to be a strength, the added complexity of having to make the "right" choice of the schema language as well as the associated tools, trainings, and ongoing support seem to introduce extra barrier for DITA adoption.  And those factors could be considered as either weaknesses or threats.
• Scott suggested that it would be nice to have working implementations and documentation before the DITA TC releases a new version.
  Again, offering too many options (DITA 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2) could introduce extra barriers for DITA adoption, especially for a large corporation where a stable and proven technology is a prerequisite, upon which new business processes can be designed and implemented to facilitate a major paradigm shift in technical communication.

1) Roll call.

Present: David Hollis, Brenda Oakley, Dr. JoAnn Hackos, Mr. Frank Miller, Steffen Frederiksen, Kristen Eberlein, Mrs. Kay Whatley, Ms. Deb Bissantz, Rodolfo Raya, Mr. Troy Klukewich, Ms. Robin Sloan, Mr. Robert Thomas, Mr. Gershon Joseph, Mr Scott Tsao and Peter Hrabisky.

2) JoAnn moves to approve minutes of previous meeting, Gershon seconds, none objects.

3) JoAnn moves to approve charter Corrections. Gershon seconds, none objects. JoAnn will contact Mary McRae and request a change in charter.

4) Action Items: Brenda said she got feedback and will forward the list of resource to Rodolfo for inclusion in the TC home page.

Gershon will work on the wiki and add direct links from DITA TC home page to the DITA Adoption home page and resources.

JoAnn and Gershon will work offline on adding documents to the TC home page.

5) Carol Geyer, from OASIS, explained the mission of xml.org and said that the Editorial Board works more on making sure that people posts fresh contents and articles. Ensuring that news are up to date regarding DITA and other TCs. The Editorial Board meets one per month.

We discussed whether we want to create a sub-committee in charge of DITA-related news that manages the content of dita.xml.org . Bob Thomas and Gershon volunteered to maintain the wiki, Kristen would like to continue with the task. JoAnn would like to schedule monthly events for reporting work done in dita.xml.org. Kristen will chair a sub-committee in charge of maintaining the focus area of dita.xml.org. Scott and Brenda would be interested in joining the work group.

6) SWOT analysis

Scott sent a list of articles that compare DITA and DocBook to the TC list (SWOT Analysis and DITA vs. DocBook). David sent an article to JoAnn and shell forward it to the TC.

David summarized the advantages and cons of DITA, mentioning items that are key points for DITA adoption.

Gershon mentioned that the main inconvenience is that most tools that claim support for DITA dont support it fully. Getting DITA to work in some CMSs or editors may be an awful task. Tools that support DITA require a quite steep learning curve.

Kristen mentioned that another pain point if the ToolKit documentation. Special item needed attention is the PDF2 plugin.

It would be nice to have publish tool reviews, evaluating details like completeness of DITA support, easiness of use and documentation.

Scott suggested that it would be nice to have working implementations and documentation before the DITA TC releases a new version.

Gershon noted that its important to explain whats new in each release, so people knows when to upgrade.

Rodolfo will create a wiki page for commenting on advantages and disadvantages of DITA.
