Subject: dita.xml.org: Thoughts about the Editorial Board roles from CarolGeyer
I am forwarding an e-mail that Carol Geyer
sent me
yesterday. It outlines notes that she jotted down after participating
in the
DITA Adoption Committee call yesterday. As you heard yesterday, she
suggests
that we structure this subcommittee so that individual people take
clearly-defined responsibility for oversight of specific sections of
the site:
Wiki Knowledgebase, News, Services, etc.

Board
1. Develop ideas for new topic pages in wiki. Seed page with content and/or invite others experts to. Promote new topic pages on DITA mailing lists.
2. Add a new poll question on a monthly/quarterly basis. Promote new questions and results of completed polls on DITA mailing lists.
3. Host a 'How to use DITA XML.org' webinar. Post recorded webinar to the site. Link to it from the main nav.
4. Decide if we want to continue to maintain RESOURCES as a directory or if it should be integrated into the WIKI section.
Wiki editor
1. Sign up to receive notifications of new updates to this section of the site (via email or RSS).
2. Monitor DITA mailing lists.
3. Go through existing WIKI pages and add "See also:" section at the bottom of each page with links to other appropriate pages, especially ones listed in RESOURCES section.
News editor
1. Sign up to receive a daily Google News alert for "DITA". You'll get one email a day containing 0-3 links to articles online.
2. Review articles and identify any that are worth linking to from DITA XML.org (this usually ends up being 1-3 articles a week).
3. Create a News entry for each worthy article using the form at http://dita.xml.org/node/add/news
Products and services editor
1. Encourage vendors to post listings in Products and Services directories. (You may subscribe to Google alerts to receive press releases on new products.)
If you're interested, please let me know, and I'll provide full instructions. This is a great way to contribute to BPEL XML.org, stay on top of BPEL-related news, and receive recognition as a major contributor to the site--all for less than 30 minutes a week.
Tags
1. Encourage the use of tags by tagging existing content. Review new posts to the site on a weekly basis (http://dita.xml.org/tracker) and add tags.
Resources
1. Maintain
