OASIS DITA Adoption TC committee meeting has been modified by Rodolfo Raya

Date: Wednesday, 15 April 2009
Time: 03:00pm - 04:00pm GMT

Event Description:
Call-in (sponsored by IBM) details:
Toll-free in USA: 888-294-8505
Direct-dial in USA: 213-270-2170
Participant Passcode: 71382177

Agenda:

Minutes:
Present: JoAnn Hackos, Frank Miller, Kristen Eberlein, Robin Sloan, Nancy Harrison, Su-Laine Yeo, Troy Klukewich, Rodolfo Raya, David Hollis, Marc Speyer and Sowmya Kannan.

JoAnn moved to approve the minutes of previous minutes, Rodolfo seconded and none opposed.

Gershon added files to the SVN repository hosted by OASIS and Kristen summarized the files in it.

Mary McRae commented by email that DITA Adoption TC members cannot officially review documents from the DITA TC unless they are members of both TCs. Her comments were analyzed and members of the Adoption TC that are not part of the DITA TC were invited to join it.

The roles of the DITA TC and Adoption TC and their relationships were discussed. OASIS doesnt have a specific mechanism for Adoption TCs, which should work collaboratively with the corresponding main Technical TC. JoAnn will contact Mary McCrae and Don Day to clarify the relationship between TCs.

Troy commented about the email exchange with members of DITA TC regarding the role of the Adoption TC and its view of the DITA OpenToolkit. The convenience of promoting the OpenToolkit was discussed. The Adoption TC considers that the OpenToolkit needs improvements in documentation and all members should assist Mathew Varghese in the process. There is confusion in the market regarding the role of the OpenToolkit. Apparently, the problem that needs focus from the Adoption TC is the DITA process in general. We need to publish a guide for obtaining output from DITA sources. We also need to create a fact sheet that end users can check when selecting a tool for processing. Rodolfo will create a wiki page that members can use for writing the initial content of the fact sheet.

Call dismissed.
