RECURRING ITEM: Subcommittee reports Focus Area Subcommittee ITEM: Connection with UNESCO (JoAnn) Discuss potential contact with UNESCO regarding DITA adoption RECURRING ITEM: Call for users of DITA 1.2 OASIS needs a list of organizations that intend to use one or more DITA 1.2 features RECURRING ITEM: Continue defining the TC activities and roadmap for 2009. Add to the SWOT analysis wiki, which we will turn into a best practice document Work with the Matthew Varghese on use cases for DITA. Add to the wiki on this subject Review JoAnn's article on the 1.2 specification and Kristen's page (moved from the DITA TC to the Adoption TC) Review the proposed changes for the dita.xml.org on the wiki. Discuss plans for assisting the DITA TC with the documentation for the multiple packages for DITA 1.2. We now have multiple wiki pages for the issues that we are discussing. Several of these should lead to best practice documents. Reminders: Committee members who have sent Robert Anderson comments about the DITA 1.2 Language Specification, let Gershon know. He will update the review page. Add to the various subpages on the Wiki: everyone add to the meaning of DITA adoption Consider the formation of informal subcommittees to work on specific tasks. Regrets: JoAnn Hackos, Sowmya Kannan, Mathew Varghese. Gershon moved to approve previous minutes, Kristen seconded and none objected. Kristen completed her action (post to the dita-users mailing list and let people know about the move to form a techical communication subcommittee). Gershon will inform the Docbook TC on next meeting that he is going to prepare a comparison of DITA and Docbook. He will then share the comparison in both TCs. The wiki page with facts to check when selecting tools to use with DITA was discussed. Action Item: Gershon to define the list of features that constitutes compliance with DITA 1.1 and 1.2. Definition of compliance was discussed and there was consensus on these topics: - Tools should accept valid DITA files and output valid DITA files. - When required for processing, tools should be able to resolve conref, keyref and topic ref. - Tool vendors should publish the list of languages they fully support. Action Item: Gershon and Kristen to check with the DITA TC and OASIS if the DITA Open Toolkit can be considered a Reference Implementation. Definition on the Open Toolkit status is essential for defining documentation strategies. Discussion will continue after Gershon and Kristen find out the relevant facts. Call dismissed.
